From Biz pt of view, with the increased in population, more land
will be reclaimed, more houses will be build, more hawker centre
will be build, more child-care will be build, more schools will be
build, more road will be widen, more mrt will be build
these will benefit constructions, teaching, hawking,
transportation….
Exactly who benefits?
Construction companies, private education centres, hawkers, SMRT
and SBST.... but not the common man.
In the end the common Ah Lim , Ahmad and Muthusamy all lose out.
They still have to contend with too many people chasing too few
jobs (leading to depressed wages), a severely strained transport
system (even after all the upgrades and new MRT lines), too many
people chasing too few goods and services (leading to
inflation).....
I noticed one thing from the government's proposal: it's all
about the money. Money, money, money, money. Intangible things like
quality of life and national identity have been swept
aside.
And if there's one thing I've learnt about money, it is this:
you only need it up to a point. All the rest is for showing
off.
