Web designer, Artist?

Pitot SG

Designers are artists. They learn their basic stuff like all of the rest of the field do. What make web designers so special?

Howcome they don't go through the basic foundation of art that the other field of designers do?

I know in my sch and other art schs they do. But in polytechnics, they don't as IT is not in design schools.

hmm... no clear knowledge of heritage. Considered artist? Rolling Eyes

In visual art form, the closest thing that comes to web designing in multimedia.

so are web designers artists? are they the only designers who arent artists?
Confused

discuss.........

Bontakun SG

They still have to learn programming codes. And since the net is comprised of html and other codings, its different from conventional artists method of designing. So its really hard to call web designers artists for they are in base core “programmers”.

Pitot SG

yea. programmers are not designers.

so web designers. wrong call?

Notice that if it is art, why the art schools dont offer courses in web designing?

hmm..

you will first have to define what is Art from Design.

Went to open house. The band is not bad. My friend's work is up this year. Laughing

Bontakun SG

Good one. Simi si art? Simi si design?

Pitot SG

Is it? which one?

Sadly this year they outsource. band also outsource. Laughing

Art is a product of human creativity.

Design, usually considered in the context of the applied arts, engineering, architecture, and other such creative endeavours, is used as both a noun and a verb.

As a verb, "to design" refers to the process of originating and developing a plan for a product, structure, or component.

As a noun, "a design" is used for both the final (solution) plan (e.g. proposal, drawing, model, description) or the result of implementing that plan (e.g. object produced, result of the process)

so if design can be used in engineering, it means that it is not fully an art word?

but art, can be any product of human creativity.

hahaha.

Pitot SG

Idea Designer is a broad term for a person who designs any of a variety of things. That usually implies the task of creating or of being creative in a particular area of expertise.

Idea Artist is a descriptive term applied to a person who engages in an activity deemed to be an art.

So is web designing an art form?

Pitot SG

Programmers were the original web page designers in the early 1990s.

Currently most web designers come from a graphic artist background in print, where the artist has absolute control over the size and dimensions of all aspects of the design. On the web however, the Web designer has no control over several factors, including the size of the browser window and the size and characteristics of available fonts.

ok. still can be debated Laughing

Art is either plagiarism or revolution.

A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.

This were something i learnt in my Arts History.

If people knew how hard I worked to get my mastery, it wouldn't seem so wonderful at all.

"It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a
child." ~ Pablo Picasso

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." ~ Pablo Picasso

Some Artist are Designers but all not ARE designers.

web design can be looked from two aspects.

one is through programmer's view, he will start from coding and making up interface after dat. he makes sure everything is run efficiently, more den well looked.

the other he will design the layouts, question interface usability before using applications to make his ideas and designs practical.

but lines getting blurred. websites are required to have the best of both worlds.

From an IT person point of view, web designers are more like programmers. Not only they have to make sure that a website is user-friendly, looks nice and doesn’t lag, they also have to make sure that it works correctly on most browsers.
