Hey b.q. (Being a current J2 in PJ and with the recent publicity PJ has gotten last year,I am pretty sure the admin in the school is trying to lower the COP this year to about 12 for arts(13 if no change),and 11 for science.
Anyways,about 872 students picked PJC as first choice this year,an increase in 100 students as compared to last year.) Is this reliable? How do u noe?

Where did you get the stats from? If what you saying is true does that mean post-secondary institutions are already aware of the number of applicants even b4 posting results out or are you confusing with last year's jae?

Students who participated in the 2017 Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) will know their posting results on Thursday (Feb 2), at 9am.

The results will be sent via text messages (SMS) to applicants if they have provided a mobile number during registration.

Alternatively, students can also access their results through the JAE website at https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/jae.

Students posted to Junior College (JC) or to Millennia Institute (MI) will have to report to their respective schools on Friday, Feb 3 at 7.30am, while those posted to a polytechnic or Institute of Technical Education (ITE) course will receive further instructions by mail.

Students who wish to appeal for a transfer to another JC or to MI should approach the school of their choice directly.

Appeals for a place in a polytechnic or a transfer of diploma course can be done online at http://jaeappeal.polytechnic.edu.sg from Feb 2 at 9am until Feb 6, 4pm. Appeal outcomes will be released on Feb 9, 2.00pm.

Those who wish to appeal for a place in the ITE can do so at https://www.ite.edu.sg/wps/portal/intake, from Feb 2 at 9am to Feb 8, 11.59am. ITE appeal outcomes will be released Feb 20, 9am.

Any student who does not report to the JC/MI on this date will be deemed to have forfeited his/her place. this im not really sure also....... hmm............

but since there are withdrawals and appeals there may be students who are not going to this school or there are other students waiting to enter this school so if straight away orientation quite weird leh....... they also dont know how many students and which students go to which OG...........

and shdn't the incoming students be informed of where to assemble, what to expect and things to bring for the O?

Well, that's coz I consider "students be informed of where to assemble, what to expect and things to bring for the O" as a part of 'Orientation activities'. And as for the withdrawals, appeals and transfers, it makes more sense for these to take place during the 'Orientation activities' period, rather than when actual tutorials & lectures begin, which differs across JCs, since MOE leaves details like this to the principals to decide.

yeah...... usually by the time the appeals settle, it's the offiical lessons start liao

most of them will miss the orientation activities -- the oppo to make frens and familiarise with the sch culture and spirit

for some, orientation is important especially when u are in the "minority" group whereby not many frens from sec sch go that JC

Hello, I need some advice/opinions on JAE Appeal. During the JAE application period, I was very overwhelmed by all the information and I decided to go for a course of my interest(engineering) at that point of time. While waiting for the results, I realised that I really want to pursue Food Science and Technology(SP) after much thoughts and I'm gonna appeal in. As I put that as one of my last few choices for JAE, it is unlikely I will get into the course. How high would the success rate be if I appeal to go to the course? Is there anyone who appealed successfully to their choices?

This is my results

Chinese: A1

Geography: A2

English, Emath, Amath, Physics, Chemistry, Comb Humans: B3

My raw ELR2B2 is 12 and my net is 10.

I'm kinda worried right now ._.

Your ELR2B2 is good, so you can give an appeal a try.

The appeal is based on computer selection and also human intervention. So if there are not too many appeal cases wanting to get into your desired course and there are more people opting out of the course, you stand a high chance.

Nobody actually knows your chances in this forum as it is based on the popularity of the courses (SP courses are quite popular) and whether the poly's allocated number of vacancies for students of that course has been met. Only the course administrators of the poly course have first hand knowledge.

You meet the cop, but my concern is that the number of places for the course is limited.

Do you know the career prospects of this course? Do speak to SP course counselors.

Actually details and things to bring can be found on the JCs' websites! Last checked SRJC and YJC had their all the info out on their sites already, but not sure about other JCs!

Also lots of them are starting orientation straightaway on 3rd Feb???? A bit too fast for me hahaH omg..

I didnt do well for for my SS hence i got C6 despite getting A2 for both my prelim 1 and 2.. I was hoping to go JC and plan to take Science course in JC .. The subjects that i would like to take is

H2 Maths

H2 Phy

H2 Econs

H1 Geog

Is it possible for me to do well/pass despite not having an A maths background .. Ive been studying A maths through the holidays tho .. Next is actually , im worried if GP would be a problem for me as myO level Eng is C5 ..Any advice ?

Rejected on JAE, whats next for me? I try to appeal but the site says I don't qualify for any course.

School administrative department announced themselves on the day after the end of jae course selection during assembly,so everyone in the school knows.

For science department,I dont know much about physics(since i take H2 Bio+H2 Chem),but i can say that H2 Chem notes are really comparable and have little/slight difference to top JCs notes,with exception to tutorial questions which I believe the better JCs provide more difficult questions which will benefit students learning.

As for H2 Bio,its on the other end of the spectrum.In my honest opinion,my school bio notes are pretty messy and inconsistent in terms of being concise and straight to the point in terms of content for every chapter.So when worse come to worse,I just refer to other school JC notes(Eg. RJC) as an alternative to supplement my reading.So if anyone who ended up getting posted to PJC Science today has the interest to take H2 Bio,be prepared to make a shit ton of notes to consolidate your understanding and also spend a bit of money to source out other school bio notes too as from my experience,last minute reading of bio notes can tilt one over a lot and make one fail,as opposed to h2 chem where last minute reading the day before exam can still get A.
