Unless, it's a really exceptional case, decided by the ministry. Rarely happen. Never in year one. So, don't even think about it.

my elr2b2 is 23(21 after minusing cca pts)

im interested in nursing course in Ngee Ann poly,however I only met the elr2b2 requirement but not the minimum subject requirements as I failed bio

I didn't study hard for o levels

i wish to pursue medicine in uni

may I know do I stand a good chance to get in if I place Ngee Ann poly nursing as first choice? Or is it affected by my bio

Seriously, I am quite surprised why your school allowed such a subject combination. Secondary schools offer subject combinations that will best ensure that their students are able to enter JC/Poly and qualify for most if not all of the courses. Therefore, as a minimum, all students take at least one combined Science subject (P/C/B). In your case, you would have been better off with Combined Science (C/B) instead of pure bio.

Anyway, that is water under the bridge.

If you die die want to do medicine, then another path is to go Poly. Do extremely well. Take a science or engineering course in Uni. Make sure you graduate with 1st class honours. Then apply to Duke-NUS graduate medical school after some work experience related to research.

But be warned. Medicine is a tough life.

Hi! I have received my O Level results yesterday and disappointingly only passed English (B3). I would like to retake O levels but I'm in a sticky situation right now as I have moved out of country and my parents are unable to finance a place for me to stay. So I'm left with 2 options for my future.

1): Enlist early in National Service and retake O Levels at the same time. Is this feasible from anyone's experience? Are there vocations that allow enough free time to study? Would I be able to book out to study? Is there such thing as night classes for O levels?

2): Start from scratch and study the IGCSE syllabus (also from cambridge) from a Sec 3 level in a private school in my current country. The downside to this is that I will waste 2 years of my life and graduate from uni (given in the future i might apply to poly via DAE) at age 28 (I'm 17 turning 18). Is this more feasible for the long term however since its more stable and structured than the unpredictable NS?

If your combined science did well (ie. A1 or A2 grade), then yes you can still take the combined science subjects at H2 level, ie. Science stream. Go check out individual JC's websites to confirm details. YJC and MI are known to be slightly more flexible in terms of subject combination (especially YJC) and/or O level prerequisite grades for the corresponding subject (especially MI).

Choose whichever is nearer for you. Cut off point wise, TJC is a few points better than MJC, but not enough to make much of a difference.

Do NOT choose MI.

If cannot take a certain science combination in JC, then forget it.

If you go MI just to take that particular science combination, you are just lowering the bell curve for top JC students.

That's why MI's science and arts cannot make it, especially science.

Business still can, as the marks is only for MI and the private institutions.

Hi there, I just got back my results and kinda in a dilemma.

Here's my results :

English & Combined Humanities : B3

Emath, Amath. Combined science, Chinese : A1

I'm currently having a raw score of 10 for L1R5 which is a nett score of 8.

I'm not really sure if i should go JC or Poly cause i'm currently taking combined science and i want to continue doing amath and science in the science stream in JC. However, I'm quite worried i might dropout due to the fact that I'm currently taking combined science instead of pure sciences and I'm worried I might not make that much friends cause i'm kinda an introvert and also scared that CCA might affect my studies and gives me more stress. I've always aimed for going to SAJC because it's near my house but now, I feel like mostly pure sciences students would be going there and the competition would be very strong. Most of my combined science friends are going JC but arts stream. I'm really worried i would retain and cannot keep up. Moreover, I don't think I want to do MT anymore but JC requires it for A lvls.

However, I don't mind the Poly stream as well. I've been considering International Business or Biomedical Science, but I'm not sure if i would do well in biomedical science as i took PhyChem for Science and have no bio background. I was thinking maybe diploma would be better than A lvls, because i might be able to go uni with a diploma or work if i don't want to go uni. But for A lvls, there's no choice but to continue with uni and i'm afraid i might lose interest.

My initial interest is actually to be a Math Teacher in secondary schools and i'm not sure which route i should go. Are there any courses in poly to go if i want to be a math teacher? I don't mind going the biomed route and becoming a doctor.. But i'm not sure. Is it possible if i seek some of your opinions? Because i'm kind of in a dilemma now.
