A total of 12,538 students took last year’s
GCE A-level examination and 92.6 per cent of these students
obtained at least three H2 passes and a pass in General Paper (GP)
or Knowledge and Inquiry (KI), said the Ministry of Education (MOE)
on 24 Feb (Friday).
This is a slight drop from the 93.1 per cent
achieved by students in 2015.
The 92.6 per cent pass percentage is the
second-best performance by A-level takers since the curriculum was
revised 10 years ago,
On Thursday, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long had
wished students well via his Facebook page. “Whatever your results,
do take the time to consider what your interests and strengths are,
and pursue them,” he wrote.
“Your early 20s are a great time for self
discovery and adventure. Remember to stay focussed, motivated, and
driven. All the best!”
Results of the 2016 GCE A-Level examination dipped
slightly from the previous year with about 92.6 per cent of last
year’s cohort of 12,538 students getting at least three H2 passes,
with a pass in General Paper or Knowledge and Inquiry.
Nevertheless, it is the second best showing since the
curriculum was revised about a decade ago. The class of 2015 scored
the best results — 93.1 per cent of them achieving the same
standard of passes.
2014’s cohort saw 91.4 per cent attaining the same
standard of passes.
School candidates received their results at their
schools on Friday (Feb 24) from 2.30pm. Private candidates will be
notified of their individual results by post.
Private candidates can also use their SingPass account
to obtain their results online via Singapore Examinations and
Assessment Board’s website at www.seab.gov.sg from 2.30pm on Friday.
