I need help with my after O level postings too
><
My L1R5 is 17-2=15 (Subjects i took = English, MT,
EMath, AMath (Fail), Combined Humans (Lit / SS), Pure History, Pure
Chem and Pure
Bio)
I want to go to JC
because i
have no
interests and no
idea on
what kind of jobs i'm
interested in.
The JCs i'm interested in are Serangoon JC and Tampines JC but i am eligible for Yishun JC, Jurong
JC and
Innova JC
which are all really far from where i live. I
heard of people with
higher COPs entering into TPJC even though the COP is
13.
I'm thinking of putting SRJC (11 points) as my first, then TPJC (13 points), then
YJC (17 points (?)), IJC (20 points) and lastly JJC (15 points)
because
that's the furthest.
For the rest of my choices, i am not putting any Poly courses because i might get
them and i don't
want to go to
poly like i tried
last time.
Do you think i am able to get into SRJC or TPJC?
Because i
really
want to get in. Also
i am interested
in a CCA which is
only available in YJC out of those options.. but i
don't know if i want to
travel
that
far just
for a
CCA.
Lastly,
I am aiming for Science stream because i don't feel confident
in arts. I
want to
take H2
math, chem,
bio and for H1 i
don't know if i should take Econs (Not sure what is this also) or History. If anyone knows which is better,
can you help me out
too? Thanks so much
:)
Thanks
in advance if you have any advice or can help me out :)
I'm here to help :)
I'm a student from YJC. I am highly certain you will not be able
to enterSRJC and TPJC unless you appeal via your CCA achievements.
There is occasional rare cases though, like my friend who manage to
appeal into TPJC with a L1R5 of 16raw and D7 for humanities. Be
mentally prepared of getting your appeals rejected.
Your choices are quite straightforward actually. Put SRJC 1st,
TPJC 2nd, and either YJ/IJ/JJ for your other choices.
Many YJC-ians actually live in the east (because they missed
tpjc cop by either 1 or 2 points). If you happen to live in the
east too, you'll soon realise that many of your fellow O Level
mates are in the similar situation with you. I stay in the east
too, travelling to and fro YJC is 2hours a day, and its really
tiring. Not sure if this is the case for JJC/IJC too.
requirement for H2 maths in my school is 1. Pass in Emaths &
Amaths or 2. Distinction in Emaths and Comb Science
(phychem/phybio) or 3. Distinction in Emaths and Pasa in pure
physics. Based on these requirements you will not be able to take
H2 Mathematics. I can ask my math teacher whether there is a chance
for you to take H2 maths if you pm/tell me your Emaths and
Science grades.
Do give it a thought of coming to YJC. Cheers =)

Dear CKTR, have you been through JC education? I've seen people
without prior AMaths background doing well in H2 Mathematics, let
alone your claim of "A1 Amaths students struggling with H2 math".
It can be true to some extent, but its not as exaggerated as what
you have claimed.
Taking Double H2 sciences without prior pure science knowledge
isn't sucidal. Likewise i've also seen people with no pure science
knowledge doing well in their H2 Sciences.
I do acknowledge that background knowledge in pure
science/amaths does help you to get a head start in JC education,
but whats more important is bridging the difference, consistent
revision and clarifying your doubts asap. I've seen triple science
students retaining at JC1 too. Has their retention got to do with
their background? I dont think so. They might just be unsuitable
for JC education.
