Why does scl2 have a lower boiling point than pcl3 despite both
having Permanant dipole dipole forces whivh are dominant over Vand
der waals forces? Has it some thing to do with the shape of
molecule? Scl2 has a bent shape while pcl3 hass a trigonal
pyramidal shape but i dont see how the shaoes can affrct their
boiling points since both are polar molecules.
Also how to post a new tooic in a normal forum and not in
support forum? Causee i onky saw the create new topic in the
support forum. Sry guys
The greater the no. of electrons present, and the larger the
molecular size, the greater the polarizability of electron charge
clouds, hence the greater the magnitudes of partial charges and
dipoles, therefore the stronger the electrostatic attractions, thus
the stronger the van der Waals forces.
Regarding "normal" vs "support" forum, you have to ask FireIce this
qn (eg. post ur qn in ChitChat forum).
