From cambridge's review, benchmark for A1 in E Maths
seldomly went up to 80. But on average, Singapore candidates lost 5
to 10 marks because of the 'inproper' working steps. It is very
common for you to check your numerical answers against your teacher
and conclude you can get 90, but in the end a A2 only.
Example 1:
When you write AB=AC from a square ABCD, did you put a ( ) and
state this reason 'ABCD is a square' in it? If you did not state or
put a wrong reason such as 'given' in it, you lose 1 mark.
Example 2:
Here is a sample working:
x = 6/sin60
= 6.9282 (5.s.f)
.......(1)
y = 4/sin30
=
8
.......(2)
x + y = 6.9282 + 8 ...(3)
=
14.9282 ...(4)
=
14.9cm (3.s.f)
...(5)
(1) must be curvy equal sign
(2) must be straight equal sign
(3) must be curvy equal sign
(4) must be straight equal sign
(5) must be curvy equal sign
one of these is wrong, you lost one mark for presentation
In (1) and (5), you have to indicate the number of s.f in a ( ),
you lose one mark if you fail to do so.
If in this trigo-question, all lengths are given in cm,
you foget to state your units or fail to give
the correct unit, you lose one mark.
----- Of course all these are for paper 2 only
-----
So do you know why when your numerical answer are
90% correct but your score may easily fall
below 80?
Can you quote your sources? how come i've never heard any of my
teachers telling me that? Throughout my 4years in education, none
of my teacher has ever commented on such things. It could not be my
school's fault because my school has been producing above national
standards, so I really doubt your credibility..
. Pardon me but i only want your sources thanks!
