Hi Stampboy123,
Is this a question from Additional Maths?
If so, you will need to apply factor theorem, long
division and factorisation to solve it.
1. Guess a factor by letting x take values such as 1, 2,
3, etc, and substitute it into the expression. If that value, say
a, gives zero upon substitution, then (x - a) is a factor.
2. Apply long division, i.e., divide the expression by (x
- a).
3. Factorise the result (which is a quadratic
expression), say, by trial and error.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Wen Shih
