What will Primary Education be like for your
Child?
Talk about the Programme for Active Learning(PAL) and understand
that school have to develope this PAL for Primary school kids. The
schools have the option to choose and design the programme. Three
primary school principals shared with us how they implemented the
PAL.
The schools also careful redesign their school report card to
reflect "holistic learning" based on their definition. Basically
it's an academic + PAL activities report card.
Developing your Child's 21st Century
Competencies
The speaker for this talk is Dr John Ravenscroft sharing with us
his experience. He compared Scotland and Singapore's Education
System and shared with us about how he feels about scotland's
education system can benefit younger learner's education
journey.
Developing Independent and Passionate Learners with a
Global Perspective
Students from HCI shared their learning experience on a project
collaborated with students from overseas through the use of
internet. The project also include an exchange program for students
on both side. At the end of the projects, they understand the
importance of communication. Another project undertake by
the JC students focus on collaboration with extenal
organisation.
The school requires each student to take up complusory
project work every year, and strongly excourage students to
collaborate the projects with external organisation.
Learning Anytime Anywhere - Use of Ipod touches in
Learning
Teachers from Yusof Ishak Secondary School shared with us the
experience of using Ipod touches in learning. This includes the use
of Fb for collaborative discussion in class, and (apple) apps for
self-directly learning. Apps includes flashcards and tutorial
lectures with quizes.
When asked why apple ipod touches over andriod system.. they
said it's the amount of apple apps as compared to the newly develop
android apps.
