Hi,
We see the use of limits in these specific contexts
within H2 Maths, just to mention a few:
1. Geometric series,
2. Method of differences,
3. Binomial expansions,
4. Maclaurin series,
5. Graphs.
Limits are interesting because there exist a finite
number (value or number of terms) in a case where one has to
deal with an infinite quantity.
Limits also deal with behaviours when we discuss about
neighbourhoods, as such the limit of (sin x)/x as x approaches to
0.
In short, we learn about limits to appreciate
1. the finite in the infinite,
2. the characteristic of some neighbourhood
value.
P.S. I have modified the title to reflect the true nature of
this discussion. Thank you for your understanding, theWEIRDme.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Wen Shih
