the two were left with the same distance to complete. What is the
ratio of the distance of Ben's journey to the distance to Adam's
journey?

Ben left 6 - 3 = 3 hours
Adam left 9 - 3 = 6 hours
Ben speed: D/time = D/3
Adam speed: D/time = D/6
(D is the same)
Ben D: 6h x D/3 = 2D units
