Hi Everybody
Can you help me how to solve this?
Thanks brothers and sisters.
1) During a travel fair, 90 families choose HKG as their holiday
destination.
80% of the remaining families chose TWN while the rest chose
MYR.
Given that 1/10 of the families chose MYR, how many families
were there at the travel fair?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
2) 2/9 of A is 5/7 of B. What is the ratio of B to A??
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Yours faithfully,
@LikeYou.
For question 1),
80% of the remaining families choose Taiwan means that 20% of
the remaining families choose Myanmar.
20% of the remaining families = 1/10 of all families
100% of the remaining families = 1/10 X 5 = 1/2 of all
families
Thus, the 90 families who chose Hong Kong = 1 - 1/2 = 1/2 of all
families
Hence, the total amount of families at the fair will be 90 X 2 =
180 families.
For question 2),
2/9 of A is 5/7 of B.
We will try to make the numerator same. Thus, we have:
10/45 of A is 10/14 of B.
Hence, the ratio of B to A is 14 : 45.
