take foundation chinese can go express stream?

I'm asking for my friend which is in pri 6 nxt yr.He is a non-chinese student but he is taking foundation chinese in school.His parents are worried he will go to normal stream in secondary school besause of taking foundation chinese.His results for eng,maths & sci are around 60-70 and above.His parents had already appeal to MOE for him to drop chinese but was rejected.So will he go to normal or express stream?

Make sure he can qualify for express in the 1st place. 60-70 is still closer to NA than express.

Anyway, a 2nd langauge cannot be dropped as you need 1 to continue in sec sch anyway and to go on to JC.

Hi peipei27,

Whether the child will enter the Express Stream or Normal Academic Stream depends a lot on which school he plans to enter. As long as he does well over all, even if he is taking Foundation Chinese, it is still possible for him to enter the Express Stream.
