In the future, HDBs in Singapore will be $2 million and a Korean car will be $0.5 million.

Times will be bad when even the cheapest china made cars in Sg cost 200K.

The COE alone can drive nice Porsche in USA.

What is the "acceptable" cost of a COE? I agree that COE is necessary but it is too costly now. I think that 30K is acceptable.

Come 2013 onwards, cars are due for scrapping. Then the supply of COE may increase. Hopefully the banks are not so liberal with car loans too. (in the early 2000s, loan-to-value ratio can be 100% and 10 years loan are common. This drove up the demand since many more people can cope with the monthly payments.) However, the pent up demand from now to then may dampen the effect of the increase in COE.

So what does it take for a Singaporean or PR to drive in SG? How much much you make monthly to afford a car? A normal grad (1-5 yrs exp) with $5K pay would probably not be able to afford.
