Xbase .DBF file formats

See if anyone can offer help:

My situation:
Programming and Integration of an ASP-based Table Reservation System with a real-life LINUX-based Point-Of-Sales server, manufactured. Currently on hand, I have the data structure in form of .DBF Xbase file formats.

Need help on using ASP Recordset to retrieve information from the .DBF files. (It is very much unlike retrieving data from a .MDF).

Hi there,

what u mean is that u r not using IIS or PWS as the web server, instead u r using Linux? If that is the case, u try getting a software call chillisoft on your server. If you dun belong to the above case, worst come to worse, write a java or any suitable program to convert your data from the the database that you had into XML document then from there onwards, convert the XML document back to ASP file.

Hey thanks for the help, but assuming we can’t do anything to the server except access the DBF by FTP. That’s another tricky question of “How To”...

Hi again,

Yah so I assume you can get a copy of the DBF file(a database file) by FTP or whatever way. Like what I say, convert the *.DBF into XML data and from there you convert it back to whatever data that you want. Basically, Microsoft is having .Net platform dealing with this kind of problem but I assume that you can't use it now due to some beta problem that they have. I advise you to write Java to do the converting.

Hi... Latest info I've got.

This can open a dbf, but I'm wondering if it will work over FTP?

you can try it out lor. I am handling a Intranet project and wondering if you could provide me with some kind advices. Here goes my problem:

I need to extract and display a REMOTE client's Windows registry value when he/she comes to my site. I can extract locally but not remotely.

Do you know how to do this?

What do u mean? Anyway I think that my problem require me to write a program running below ASP. So how is ur problem? Solved? Btw r u frm TP? which cos?
