Hi,
Im not sure when to use the naming for Benzyl or Phenyl to
represent the benzene ring side branch.
eg...
why is it that
H
H
|
|
C
= C
|
|
H
(O)*
where(O)* represents the benzene ring...
This molecule is named as Benzyl ethene
However...
is it also alright for it to be named Phenyl ethene???
Whereas,, eg...
Br
F
|
|
H- C
-
C - H
|
|
Br
(O) --benzene ring
1,1-dibromo- 2-fluoro-2-phenyl-ethane.
Why cant it be possible for the "phenyl" to be replaced with a
benzyl instead?? Since they both reprensent the same benzene
ring??
Thanks ! :D
Where did u get the name Benzyl ethene from?
