Ravenkw06 - please pay your tuition fees

arch123 SG

And yes, as Eagle puts it, and as "TinTin" has pointed out via this thread, only ethically (and financially) responsible students are welcome to apply for tuition.

Being 'financially responsible' is easier than said. I am very positive in learning and i always do my work well ahead of what my tutor teaches. However, my family is not that affluent after all. I told my tutor beforehand that one day i may not have enough money to pay. My tutor stop teaching me immediately after that for fear of me defaulting payment. This is what i get after being ethical and frank to my tutor. Don't just bad mouth student that default payment. Remember to mention that there are tutors who also take advantage of students being ethical.

so are you saying that as a tutor, we should continue teaching even if the person cannot afford to pay us?

i mean i don't mind teaching if someone asks me questions, i don't have to be paid for it. but it is another thing to go all the way to teach the person unless you are super passionate about teaching, the student mean a lot to you, etc...

tuition after all, is a job and if possible, a passion

just wait till the student finishes A levels first... Then try again...

If still fail, contact the school. He will have to go back to collect his cert and results slip

syncopation_music SG

have but he doesn't reply or is sleeping the whole afternoon away.

told him to trf the money quite some time ago up till now still haven't.

his lesson time, people wait for him there till the lesson end he never appear, never say anything. or he'll ask the tutor to go somewhere wait for him, never appear, no msg nothing.

I have my fair share of nasty parents who refused pay up also

one parent fm a bridal gown shop takes 3 weeks to return $200

another parent now i think in australia. never pay up $26

i also have tutor who lie about their qualifications ..this biz is tough

especially to a new tuition agency like mine ..the competition and market spoiler is also there ...sigh

I hope u can get the $ back

Best Wishes

Collin

What i worried is actually the SAJC student parent loss so much in Stock market ,they now finding ways to sell off their house

Kind of Sad that Financial Crisis hitting Education industry

Sigh....

Yes.

i hope this thread gives an insight view of how tutors can protect themselves from students who do not want to pay up.

Besides, i always think student should be financially responsible for the tutor fees.

You need to have some trust...

I used to delay payment from my tuiton teacher as well....but she was patient enough to wait for my mum to get the money. Till now I think I owned her around $100++...but it seems like we never really remembered it....so just forget about it. Moreover she already stopped tuitioning and is now a mother. It was 2-3 years ago's debt. I just visted her during CNY this year.

Then it was tuition centre....rushing there after school, often forgot to bring tuition fees along. The teacher was patient and waited for us....she never called us to "stop tuition" until you pay up. The most sge gave was a reminder.

There was once a tuition mate that forgot to pay his fees for a long time while the teacher did not really take note...to realise he owned 1k++ for the fees. In the end the mum wrote a cheque to the teacher.

Ah well...but there are still cases of students disappearing...changed phone numbers etc.

Thanks for your kind words, Syncopation_music.

And as Eage pointed out :

>>> tuition centre, usually the tutor still get paid by the centre. It is the centre that dun get to collect the money <<<

Yes, people who run tuition centers like Syncopation_music, often have a hard time being the middle-man, and often kena from both students/parents and tutors.

All 3 groups (students/parents, tutors, tuition center owners) have their difficulties, challenges, and any of the 3 groups can kena scam by the other 2. So it's tough, but that's life. The same for any profession and any industry (although right now, bankers kena jialat jialat.)

Hope you guys understand that there is nothing wrong with being impatient to collect the $$$. Sometimes you spend money on the understanding that you will be recieving money soon... and with a run of delay in collectiosn, you could be quite broke. At the moment I have students who are late by one month due to the fact that I didn't get to collect on time before their sec 3 exams and then I suspend their lessons to concentrate on the O level takers. Now add to the fact, I collect a token $100 for 5 full days' session for each O level takers in fees to encourage full attendence... and add in the fact, I am paying for their pizzas and burgers ( you get heartaches watching the girls order burger meals BUT don't eat the fries...sob sob) for the whole day sessions... I am running a loss for this month... and if next month the sec 3 who resume lessons are late in fees again... then I eat grass liao... >.<

UltimaOnline SG

I makan a lot of wasabi fries (and apple pies, and big breakfast meals) from Macs these couple days... coz since my students order, I also conveniently order together with them...

tinuviel07 SG

well yes. i used to run a tuition centre myself and i have a hard load of time collecting debts, even from supposedly wealthy parents. they can owe for like 5 months and everytime tell me either parents' out of the country, forgot to bring..

i mean i have my bills to pay as well? :( i wish everybody could have a little more respect for the other person.

seotiblizzard SG
