Combined Physics (5116) Aftermath 2008

last SG · 2008-10-29T16:46:40+00:00

This is what my graph looks like... Different from yours :'( Dang.

Occam's Razor SG

1.(a) mass of rock on earth = 0.11 kg

(b) mass of rock on Moon=0.11kg

(c) weight of rock on Moon = 0.176N

2.
Remote control -> infra-red
Satellite TV -> edited: micro waves
Cancer treatment -> Gamma rays

3.(a) draw st. line of grad=8 until 5s (reach 40 m/s)
draw st.line of grad=0 for 15s, i.e. until 20s (at 40m/s)
draw st.line of grad= -5 until 28s (reach 0m/s)

(bi) KE = 1/2 (300) (40)^2

(bii)Force = 1500 N (considering work done or usin f=ma)

4. As dust particles are - charged they are attracted to the + charged metal plate (to the right). unlike charges attract

5. Focal length= 1.8cm
spd of light in glass = 2.0 x10^8 m/s

6.Heating curve (draw), then recall Q

7. Vector and scalar def (recall)

Magnitude = 5N (parallelogram method/ check: pythagora's thm)

8.circuit break- how it works; recall Q

9. 2A, 4A, 2 ohm

essay

10. 1200m

explain how sound is transmitted through water (recall Q)

3 differences btw light and sound

v=f x lamda

12. Recall convection

recall conduction as a slow process

E=pt = (3000W)(60s) =...

$4.80

Suggest : Because water that is heated at the bottom maybe cooled at the top (?)

gunner77 SG

i take 5152 syllabus i do every questions except the smoke and dust particle

2 mark let go, dont understand the bloody question.

i tink this paper overall can make it

慈しみ SG

I got everything except electricity question (a). If I use my value for (a) and (b) to work out (c), do I get ecf ?

Occam's Razor SG

my teacher said error may be carried forward .

eagle SG

1.(a) Earth mass = 0.11 kg

(b) Moon mass=0.11kg

(c) Moon weight = 0.176N

Earth mass so light meh?

Can type out question let me see?

2.
Remote control -> infra-red
Satellite TV -> Radio waves (?)
Cancer treatment -> Gamma rays

Sounds correct

慈しみ SG

Why may ? I got ecf (full marks) in this kinda scenario in my prelims. /:

skythewood SG

you mean the mass on earth, mass on moon, weight on moon right?

gravity on moon roughly 1/6 of earth. or maybe they just gave it to you.

Occam's Razor SG

1) not literally earth mass, but mass of rock on earth, just lazy type out (edited liao)

2) ecf depends on strictness of marker? not really sure

gunner77 SG

Earth mass so light meh?

Can type out question let me see?

Sounds correct

they give density 5.5

volume 20cm

mass = 5.5 x 20 = 110g

change to KG = 0.11kg

慈しみ SG

Oh, I thought ecf should be agreed upon by all markers or sth. Okay, I'll just pray hard. Radio waves for satellite TV is correct btw. :)

Xcert SG

they give density 5.5

volume 20cm

mass = 5.5 x 20 = 110g

change to KG = 0.11kg

density is 5.5 what?

assuming SI units all correct...then it looks correct.

gunner77 SG

density is 5.5 what?

assuming SI units all correct...then it looks correct.

g/cm^3

Twenty8 SG

First question can leave in Gram.? 110g.?

Occam's Razor SG

Im sure they want it in kg (mass SI unit), but may be they will accept.

Ferrari_RoXz SG

Oh, I thought ecf should be agreed upon by all markers or sth. Okay, I'll just pray hard. Radio waves for satellite TV is correct btw. :)

But my textbook say mircrowaves leh! Wah sian, careless mistake for the first question, I go put 110KG =.=" Wonder minus how many marks if i got include working.

gunner77 SG

First question can leave in Gram.? 110g.?

most likely they want it in kg

unit for mass is kg

wilsonhao SG

Im sure they want it in kg (mass SI unit), but may be they will accept.

I think they will accept grams cos' they didnt give us the unit, unlike other questions where they did.

wilsonhao SG

But my textbook say mircrowaves leh! Wah sian, careless mistake for the first question, I go put 110KG =.=" Wonder minus how many marks if i got include working.

I also put microwave. Isnt it microwave?

Twenty8 SG

Textbook says TV satellite is microwave,TV Broadcasting is radiowave...WTF!!

But its seems to be microwave,cause they ask for satellite..

SIAN WRONG LER LAR!

慈しみ SG

Textbook ? I also looked at my textbook. Microwaves for cooking in the microwaves. Something like that. o.O I'm quite sure about this.
