i got more questions!!!
2a) state two differences between compound and mixture.
9b) explain why
(i) molten ionic compounds will conduct
electricity
(ii) solid ionic compounds will not conduct
electricity
2a is a sec 1 question that I helped a teacher set for a schools
EOY paper LOL
I think in that question, I put state 3 differences, and in the
answer sheet, I put 4.
1) Compound has fixed boiling point/melting point, mixture
has range of b.p/m.p
2) Compound cannot be separated by physical means, mixture
can.
3) Compound cannot be created by physical means, mixture can.
4) forgot :(
9b) (i) This has a little physics involved. When it is molten,
the ionic compounds will be separated into their respective ions.
And because it is liquid, these ions can move around. These moving
ions/charges will conduct the electricity.
(ii) Solid, no such ions. They are joined together (ionic
bonding) and they cannot move around, hence cannot transport
charges.
