SINGAPORE: The date for a pre-trial hearing, involving the
motorist who drove into a Penang Road bus stop injuring six
people, has been adjourned.
On Friday, the lawyer for Wong Heng Chiang asked the court for a
later hearing date.
Wong is charged with offences relating to drink driving and
negligence.
The 27-year-old motorist is out on S$10,000
bail.
His passport has been confiscated.
So far, the case has not developed to a stage where Wong has to
enter a plea.
But he does face a number of charges - including drink driving,
dangerous driving and negligence.
There are also six charges relating to injuries suffered by each of
the six victims.
Wong's next appearance in court is set for June
18.
The defence has requested the new hearing so it can take further
directions from its client.
The prosecution, meanwhile, will look at medical reports of the
victims next week to see if any amendments need to be made to the
charges. - CNA/yy
