since the dye is not soluble in water, it will not travel through it as a medium. instead it requires an organic solvent for it to travel.

since it has been given that there are 2 dyes in B, they will travel at a different speed due to a different solubility. however, we need an organic solvent for them to travel and seperate in the first place.
