arguementative very simple ... think about some for and against points (or ideas) to the issue, then slot 2 to 3 examples with elaboration for them can liao.

Why alot of ppl like to siam agrue essays is cos, 1st, ppl dun read enuff, no ammo to write the essay, 2nd, it misinterepted or wat ar, gg, out of point means fail liao ...

Confused

unclebutcher SG

in jc, every essay is argumentative.

but i assume you're in sec. school.

for argumentative/expositary essays, basically you have to follow the TAS system:

Thesis
Antithesis
Synthesis

i.e.

take both sides of the issue, discuss each side's pros and cons, then make a stand.

personally i don't see much difference between expository and argumentative essays.

By expo, I suppose, you mean an exposition.

By argue, I suppose you mean as argumentative essay.

An exposition is:

ex·po·si·tion (ĕk'spə-zĭsh'ən) pronunciation
n.
1. A setting forth of meaning or intent.
2.
1. A statement or rhetorical discourse intended to give information about or an explanation of difficult material.
2. The art or technique of composing such discourses.

An argument is:

ar·gu·ment (är'gyə-mənt) pronunciation
n.
2.
1. A course of reasoning aimed at demonstrating truth or falsehood: presented a careful argument for extraterrestrial life.
2. A fact or statement put forth as proof or evidence; a reason: The current low mortgage rates are an argument for buying a house now.
3. A set of statements in which one follows logically as a conclusion from the others.

An exposition is to expose, to explain, to clarify, to make sense to help the reader understand a difficult material.

An argument is to set forth the reasoning for a certain position, view, opinion and decision/conclusion.

In an exposition, give as much relevant information as possible and in an argument give as many reasons as possible.

It is an answer to whether you should stress yourself for the exams.

It is also a short form for "Why not stress yourself for your exams?", or you can paraphrase it as: "Any reason for not stressing yourself for your exams" Wink

eagle SG

Perhaps a more proper term would not be stressing yourself for exams, but rather, study very hard for it.

Why people like to relate studying hard and being stressed? Hmmmmm

seotiblizzard SG

its been a long time since i have ever written an essay

You’ll be farking stressed and screwed up when you realized you just forgotten what you have memorized.
