ndmmxiaomayi SG As above. Today teacher so bo liao until want us to write a tech review. I don't even write book reviews, not to say a tech product review. Must be formal, because it will be published.
unclebutcher SG i doubt any of the moderators know…maybe someone else come help??? or maybe you can buy PCWorld and copy the template?
d3athy SG erm maybe u can start off with introduction of the product , follow by its unique features . Whats the 1st impressation of the product that it gives u ? thats what should be in the review ... since review of product also give in a sense of promotion the product also but in another way ... Peace Out ~
eagle SG Mod of IT Support dunno My suggestions will be to read the reviews at computer times (now call what I forgot liao; me old) and copy their style of writing. You could borrow PC Mag from NLB too. It depends on what product you want to review. Some general questions that come straight to mind are: Does it have a battery? If so, what's the battery life? How hardy is it? Colour? User friendliness? Usefulness? You could also compare with competitiors' products and list a differences of the two. Perhaps summarize by writing whether you would recommend this product to be bought. The above ideas are just off my head; they are in no way a standard guide to writing your review. It would be good if you tell us what product you are going to review.
hiphop2009 SG wow mayi patronise my forum! haha, well, mayi u can learn from those magazine like pc world or something? i am sure u did book review in ur sec sch days. it is actually similar to those. yup.
ndmmxiaomayi SG I don't write reviews, I only provide support! Checkpoint NGX R60 Firewall. And I know nothing about hardware firewalls. Don't know where to dig for comparisons. One other thing, I'm not going to pay just to write a dumb review. Hardware firewalls aren't cheap! This Checkpoint Firewall costs thousands of dollars... so I ain't going to find other firewalls to compare. If somebody pays, I don't mind.
105090 SG the (product) is ??? company's latest addition in the fight against spyware, virus etc.. On first look, the (product) looks............................... btw, whats hardware firewall?
ndmmxiaomayi SG A firewall that's part of a router. Hmm... I will just copy this introduction and add rubbish into it.
eagle SG how easy is it to configure? would you need it? What comes bundled with it? The router... etc... Then google for more reviews for this particular product... There may be lots of reviews for you to pick and choose
Herzog_Zwei SG Compared to software firewall, hardware firewalls are physical add-ons to defend a server system from infection and spyware.
Herzog_Zwei SG Good idea for a start, next you must start listing the firewall strenghts against intrusions.
meltz SG 3 of my fav website for product review .. maybe can copy abit here and there http://www.pcworld.com/product/specs/prtprdid,40960525/specs.html http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-players/iriver-clix-8gb-second/4505-6490_7-32425795.html http://tech.yahoo.com/pr/dell-xps-m1710/1993879107 can write about the weight etc .. spec .. function .. maybe cope abit of ppl review the good point bad point .. price .. worth to buy anot .. comparison with other product .. give some 3 out of 5 star rating etc
the Bear SG Specs.. then talk about how it compares to similar products Price.. again, see if it's value for money by comparing to similar Looks... how good or bad it looks Useability.. if it is ergonomic, what are the drawbacks, performance... Ease of use... to the people who want to use it, not to the tech-heads who think Ctrl-Alt-Shift F8 followed by Alt-Shift-PgDn is an easy and intuitive shortcut give points out of 5 or 10.. score them as a total.. then give an overall view..
eagle SG I would add on a more technical way of defining According to the OSI layers, namely (from 7th to 1st), application layer presentation layer session layer transport layer network layer data-link layer physical layer Hardware firewalls should be at the physical/data-link/network layer I guess (Not so sure, forgot liao...) while software firewalls will be at the application layer
