galapogos SG How the hell does bench press help in pullups? It's a horizontal push motion while the pullup is a vertical pull motion. Not to mention the prime movers of the bench press are the triceps and pecs while the prime movers of the pullup are the back and biceps. Continue banging out the pullups. Do multiple sets of low reps until you can do higher reps, then start to do weighted pullups.
=)) SG my personal experience is, doing the pull-up itself regularly is alot more efficient than hitting the gym
galapogos SG Then take more time, rest more, or do eccentrics. And no dips wouldn't help much either, again, wrong movement type and wrong muscle group.
manyu882 SG to impove pullup, just do more pull up lo. if tired liao go do assisted. if assisted cannot do incline pull, if incline cannot do laps pull. do until your armpit cannot close
borntolive SG belive it anot lat pulldown help alot n I MEAN ALOT for me .but after u can do a few better to switch to standard pullups... military press help LOTS too thats for me though most ppl here says rows, deadlifts, bench
yeehaw SG i think OPT mentioned this before. "wider grip gives wider lats? what about narrow grip? narrower lats?" doesn't make sense now eh? btw, you can try narrow grip. i bet after one or two reps. you'll come down and start laughing to yourself cos you just realised how bloody difficult it is.
Marco_Simone SG Wider grip=less bicep,so more lat In an indirect way, wider grip will work your back more. Nowadays,I am doing wide grip, shoulders dont hurt anymore liao and I sincerely feel it more in the lats.
