Ives Holidays Symphony
Vivaldi The Four Seasons, Op. 8
The affable Taiwanese-American violinist Cho-Liang Lin adds a touch
of cheer to this energetic and vibrant concert. He conducts the SSO
from the violin in Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, easily four of the
best-loved violin concertos, with infectious melodies and
characterful portrayals which make them some of the earliest
examples of "programme" music. Ives' Holidays Symphony, in
celebration of four key American holidays, adds a distinctively
American flavour to the evening.
