Its actually a buffer in case of the COE increase...
But sometimes check on the package...they may add some incentives
inside or give some discount.
This buffer is either to offset the next coe increase or to have a
bigger range to play around with the price to attract buyers.
But if you want to buy a car, it really does not matter as no
matter whats the price difference, at the end of the day when you
scrap a car, you still get back the parf and whatever COE amt
balance. In terms of percentage, its about the same. No matter high
COE or low COE. The percentage is the same.
But judging from the GST increase in July, most probably, alot of
people will wait for another 2 mths to see the price difference or
how the market goes.
Taking a typical 1.6 jap car, on the average if losing @ 3.5k per
year, its already quite worth it. Do some calculation. For the
price now, its still worth the price. But if per yr lose 5k for a
1.6 jap car, its not worth it now.
My car losing 4.8k / yr due to almost 3 yr old car. In terms of
percentage, its still ok.
