It's a goal! Mark Clattenburg and
his assistant are remonstrated with by Ferdinand
Deja vu: Huddlestone celebrates his
controversial strike at Fulham two weeks ago
Ferdinand has hit back at Tottenham
supporters over their reaction to Nani's controversial second goal
in United's 2-0 win over Harry Redknapp's side
yesterday.
The Portugal winger took full advantage of
goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes' confusion over referee Mark
Clattenburg's failure to award Spurs a free-kick after he handled
the ball inside the box.
Gomes was unaware Clattenburg chose to award
Spurs the advantage instead of blowing up for a free-kick - which
left Nani with the simplest task of rolling into an empty
net.
Ferdinand was seen remonstrating with the
Clattenburg and his linesman after it looked as if the officials
would chalk off the strike.
Spurs supporters are furious Ferdinand was
allowed to put his point of view across to the
officials.
The scenes were similar to what happened at
Craven Cottage two weeks ago when Tom Huddlestone pleaded with
referee Mike Dean to award his goal against Fulham when linesman
Martin Lerby originally ruled the strike out for
offside.
And Ferdinand said on his Twitter page:
'You Spurs fans weren't piping up when you
were at Fulham and Tom Huddlestone got into the linesman and ref
about his goal when it could have been offside?'
