mourinho would make man u boring. thats why even though fergie likes him, he suggested moyes instead. The other good option is martin o'neill. or better still, eric cantona!!

no cantona, don't want a shearer in newcastle..

iceFatboy SG

Ball is round, you'll never know.

true, but without them, there is no chance..

Rock^Star SG

i dun think cantona is like shearer. Cantona is able to do those defence splitting passes, which says a lot about his ability to read the game.

As players, both are very different. I would say technical skill and control wise, Cantona is better. But there's more to a player than just that. In terms of impact on the match however, I'd say both are about equal.

I do like Shearer better because he had less disciplinary issues and less off-pitch problems compared to Cantona.

well, Shearer is English FA's baby...enough said.. anyway, I think his elbows equal to one kung fu kicks la..

yes, cantona can do a lot on the field, but as manager, a lot different..

Well, Shearer is more likeable as a person than Cantona. The hooligan Man U fans in England would definitely think otherwise, especially since they still chant vile things against Alan Shearer whenever they have the chance.

iceFatboy SG

nah, they chant against Shearer, cause he turned his back and did not choose MU.

as for whether he is likeable, it is your opinion, not mine.

I knew it was because he chose Newcastle over Man U. Who can blame him, he has said his dream was to wear the number nine jersey at Newcastle and score goals. He lived his dream, respect to that.

I agree also that Shearer is more likeable as compared to Cantona is also a matter of opinion. I'm sure I'm not alone, but thanks for understanding my point.

well, he did, didn't he?? Good for him..

On the other hand, the only club Beckham ever wanted to be at was Man U. We know how that turned out.

well, if he is less "hen-pecked", he would be still @ MU.

I don't understand Ferguson actually, Beckham didn't have that extreme of a party life actually comparing to the likes of Ronaldinho or whoever. Then again, Ronaldinho is on the decline.

Ferguson apparently seems to give players like Cantona or Ronaldo more leeway when it comes to such things. I remember he also was kinder to Barthez as well. I remember one night Ferguson didn't take action against him breaking his curfew or something.

true, but then, SAF is not fighting the mrs or WAGs in enforcing the footballing way or what he wants.. I don't thnk cantona, ronaldo or even Barthez don a sarang did they??

beckham was pursuing other interests other than football and being led by nose, just drives SAF wallwards.

as for flying boot, that could the straw that breaks the camels' back.

iceFatboy SG

but then, unless we are there in the dressing room, we won't know what really happened.

no point talking about this so much..

Sarang = Cross between Sarong and Parang?

Flying boot I think that was an unfortunate incident that really made the relationship beyond salvage.

I think Ferguson does allow some players more leeway than others. Whether it's justified or not I don't know.

marcteng SG

wah becks left for many years and still talking about it here?

i think fergie does not like his image and that of his wife posh spice victoria. It is true that he doesnt like her. being old fashioned, its no wonder that his favourite players in the squad is scholes, who doesnt talk much and to the media. outside football, you wont hear news on scholes and his private life, he just comes in training and then play matches on sat/sunday and then off he went home to his wife and children. then the boot incident was the last straw, as both nearly came to blows in the dressing room after the match.
