Wayne Rooney has urged Manchester United to sign strike
partner Carlos Tevez on a permanent basis.
For months now Tevez’s long-running transfer saga has sparked
debate and there is still no deal in sight for the Argentine.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his desire to keep the
25-year-old but the £26 million demanded for the player remains a
stumbling block.
Rooney, along with the thousands of fans who regularly chant
‘Fergie sign him up’, wants Tevez to stay and says he relishes
playing with the diminutive powerhouse.
“The fans want him to stay. The players want him to stay,” he
told the Daily Star.
“He’s not said anything to me on the training ground about his
position but then again I can’t understand him that much.
“I thought his heart was here though. He wants to stay.
“You can hear the fans singing for him to sign. And hopefully he
will stay because he’s brilliant. He’s so unselfish and gives
everything to the team.
“He was the reason why we created so many chances against
Arsenal in the first 30 minutes at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
“I have played with him for over two years now and I love
playing with him.
“The fans love players who give so much like him in every game
and work hard for the team. And Carlos certainly does that every
time he plays for United.
