Manchester United chiefs have already opened talks with
the defender’s club, Olympiakos.
The 16-year-old centre-back became the youngest player
ever in the Greek first division when he made his debut against
Atromitos last December, and he has attracted interest from a
number of English clubs.
Chelsea, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest have all been keeping tabs
on Papadopoulos, who has also attracted the attention of Greece
coach Otto Rehhagel.
Espanyol came close to signing the youngster after he impressed
during a series of trials in 2007, but Olympiakos eventually won
the race for his signature.
