The Bulgarian hitman has been edging ever closer to Old Trafford
over the past few days, as negotiations between United and Spurs
have entered the latter stages.
It has been reported that only a fee remains to be agreed, and that
the eventual sum will likely be a compromise between the £25million
offer and the £28million asking price.
However, the Lilywhites are reluctant to strengthen their Premier
League rivals and are supposedly entertaining the option of selling
to Barcelona instead.
But latest reports claim Berbatov is eager to join the Red Devils
and has made his desire known to the men in charge at White Hart
Lane.
"Dimi’s decided to put in a transfer request," a friend of the
ex-Bayer Leverkusen player told The Sun.
"He can’t wait to go to Old Trafford and play for United.
"He feels he behaved professionally throughout this period. He has
never spoken publicly on the situation out of respect for
Tottenham.
"But he does not want to miss out on the start of United’s season
and he feels that was his only option left."
