Real Madrid made record bid
for Man Utd's Ronaldo
Only days before Cristiano Ronaldo declared his commitment
to Manchester United in this morning's press, Real Madrid made a
formal bid for the winger.
AS says Real faxed an offer for a world record
£55 million to United's offices earlier this week. Before Ronaldo's
public commitment, Real president Ramon Calderon and sports
director Pedja Mijatovic were convinced the Glazer family were
ready to sell.
Real had already settled personal terms with Ronaldo's
management some time ago: a five-year contract, worth £5.5
million-a-season, with image rights being split 50:50.
