FERGIE'S POY WONDER
Sir Alex wants to poach Tottenham No.2 Gus in the frame
to replace Queiroz.
Sir Alex Ferguson has identified Tottenham coach Gus
Poyet as a shock contender to replace Carlos Queiroz as his new
assistant.
The former Chelsea and Spurs midfielder, now No.2 to
Juande Ramos at White Hart Lane, is under major consideration by
Ferguson as the Manchester United chief looks to fill the void
after Queiroz left to take over as boss of Portugal.
Fergie's interest in Poyet will be met with fierce
resistance from Tottenham who see him as a key figure in Ramos'
regime.
But if Ferguson offers the Uruguayan the chance to play
a major role in United's defence of the Premier League and
Champions League, he will be faced with the toughest decision of
his career.
Poyet is well liked and respected in the game and
Ferguson has been impressed with the way he's conducted himself
since retiring as a player in 2004.
