Neville ready for United return

GARY NEVILLE has dismissed fears over his future and has targeted an imminent return to Manchester United's title quest. The Red Devils skipper has been out for the past 10 months with ankle injuries. But the England full-back reckons he is finally ready to make his long-awaited comeback.

Neville said: "If there was a reserves game or a Carling Cup match tomorrow then Id probably be playing. "But we have important league and FA Cup matches now and it would probably be a risk to play me in one of those since I haven't been on the pitch for 10 months. "Im happy in the sense that Im training with the team again and Im feeling pretty good fitness-wise.

"What's frustrating, however, is that I feel like I could play a match unfortunately there just hasn't been a reserves game or friendly match for me to play in. "Ive missed playing football desperately. Footballs what I do and its what Ive been doing for years, so its very frustrating to be watching from the sidelines.

"Obviously Ive had injuries before but never for this length of time. I hope in 2008 I get on the pitch a lot more often. "Its hard to say how far away from a return I am. "Id say Im close as Ive trained with the team for two-and-a-half weeks now and I even felt like I could have been involved against Birmingham on New Years Day. "Obviously whats going against me is the fact I havent played football for 10 months. And I think it could be difficult for me to get a match.

"The lads have some momentum going now, theyve defended well and Wes Brown has done extremely well at right back. "There arent many opportunities for the manager to throw me into the side to ease me back in."

Brown won't leave lah... He is only trying to get a better deal. I belief at the end he will sign cos United is the only club he has played all his career, so i think he will want to stay come the end of the season... Smile

Pitot SG

u guys think that brown is underpaid?

sand king SG

oh, playing mind games i see! Shocked

4getmenot SG

true, knowing how neville will not be able cope playing full time schedule becuz of his age, brown has the perfect oppertunity to replace him in the long run if he works had enuff.

Moreover, where does he go from United? Down!

Does he really want that?

I guess he is disappointed that he is getting only £40,000-aweek... Just add another $5 to $10 thousand more and he will sure accept.

If he hold out long enough, i think United will give in to his demand cos if they really want to see him go, they would not have rejected Newcastle's bid already considering that he will be able to walk away for free in June. And also they will still have to spend another $6 or $7 million pounds just to bring in another defender and he may not be able to play as a stand-in centre-back somemore...

I say, just pay the guy lah... $5 to $10 thousand more isn't a lot to United... Neutral
