Keane: I Have No United Regrets

Keane, who skippered United for many years, left the club in November 2005 by 'mutual consent' after angering Sir Alex Ferguson with comments about his team-mates in an MUTV interview.

However, Keane insists that his 12-and-a-half-year stay at Old Trafford is remembered fondly. "I had a brilliant time there. It was everything I thought it would be - fantastic, brilliant. I loved every minute of it," said the Sunderland boss.

"I don't have regrets about how it ended, other people might. All good things come to an end.''

Keane is known for his forthright views on the attitudes of many players in the modern game, and the Irishman says the one man who epitomises above all others how it should be done is United veteran Ryan Giggs.

"Giggsy is a top man, a great player and a great example to everybody," said Keane. "Over 16-18 seasons, he's a great example to every player out there. He's not picked up many injuries, looks after himself, and is a decent lad.''

Big-Match Facts

Third bottom meets second top at the Stadium of Light; Roy Keane comes up against his old boss for the first time on home soil.

Manchester United have won more league games on the road (four), than Sunderland have managed home and away (three).

The Black Cats have registered one win in 12 league outings; the Red Devils have won four on the bounce.

Sunderland have a 50% win record in Premier League matches on Boxing Day; won three of six, but not since the 0-3 triumph over Blackburn at Ewood Park in 2001.

Middlesbrough beat Manchester United on Boxing Day in 2002. It was the only occasion United have lost a Premier League fixture on 26 December, they have won 11 of 12, including the last four.

United are unbeaten in 11 Premier League matches against Sunderland. They've won eight and drawn three since losing 2-1 at Roker Park on the 8 March 1997.

If on the field from the outset:-

Wayne Rooney will be making his 150th start in a United shirt.

This season's reverse fixture:

Manchester United 1-0 Sunderland
1 September 2007 - Ref: Martin Atkinson
Man Utd scorer: Saha 72

Ronaldo on 16 goals in all competition so far, I think the 23 goal barrier should be no problem.

I foresee, 25 goals or more?

I think Man U will nick this by a goal, 1-0 to United.

Keane: Mind on the job

Roy Keane insists there'll be no room for sentiment when his Sunderland side welcome the Reds to the Stadium of Light on Boxing Day.

Keane, who spent 12 years at United, is still afforded hero status on the terraces at Old Trafford and United's travelling support will undoubtedly pay vocal tribute to the Black Cats boss on Wednesday afternoon.

But Keane, 36, has warned Reds fans not to expect too big a reaction.

"United are a top club with great supporters but we're in a professional business," Keane told Sunderland's official website. "You don't get sucked into an old pals' act. It's nothing to do with personal feelings; it's about Sunderland. We want to win the game, we need the points. I'm not a great one for looking back."

Keane's team have won just two of their last 13 games, with last weekend's late loss to Reading leaving the Black Cats in the relegation zone.
