trendz SG I never really had much trust in Utd's young players anyway. In FM, they were so inept that only 1 - Corrie Evans played about 5 first team subs appearances. Other than Pique becoming a key player in the first team, the rest were either sold or released.
Spartans SG Compared Man U and Arsenal youngsters, I have to say Arsenal has done a maverlous job in nurturing young talents.
zocoss SG The players that took to the field last night... Man Utd: Kuszczak, Bardsley (Brown 45), Evans (Carrick 56), Pique, Simpson, Nani, Martin (Campbell 45), O'Shea, Eagles, Dong, Anderson. Subs Not Used: Heaton, Eckersley. Booked: Pique.
sand king SG [Bitter pill to swallow for Pique Gerard Pique admitted he felt "horrible" after United were sent crashing out of the Carling Cup by Coventry City. The Sky Blues, backed by 11,000 buoyant fans, ran out 2-0 winners at Old Trafford thanks to a Michael Mifsud double. Sir Alex Ferguson fielded a young and inexperienced United side and they were made to pay for some naive defending. Pique says all the players involved are bitterly disappointed by the performance and result, but is hopeful they will be stronger for the experience. "Looking up at the scoreboard at the final whistle and seeing 2-0 was a horrible feeling, especially when you're up against a Championship side at Old Trafford," he told MUTV. "I thought we started the game well and had some good possession. But their first goal brought them alive. After the break we didn't feel good and when they scored the second it was a horrible feeling. "We know we did a lot of things wrong, but you can always learn from these situations and hopefully we will grow as players." The third round tie represented a perfect opportunity for United's young guns to showcase their talents. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. "Some people will think we've missed our chance," admitted Pique. "We're all very disappointed. We gave everything we could on the pitch, but things just didn't go our way."
4getmenot SG i agree.. no matter how much a team wants it, lets be realistic and just concentrate on the big 3 becuz thats our priority... furthermore, our squad still has couple of injury list and we dun want to add more on unnecessarily... i dun even mind even if we drop FA in favour of UCL & EPL..
stellazio SG it was a bad loss, because the carling cup will be a good experience for the youngsters.. so to get knocked out of the 3rd round is a real kick to the stomach for them because its unlikely they’ll get anymore first team experiences this year for man utd.
Dead_Man_Inc SG yeah true, now they have to work other ways to break into first team already, lesser matches for them now people at hwz are comparing youths from man utd and arsenal
F.raon.I.R SG our youth r not in the same class with arsenal's. Arsenal's youth all r pacy with flair. Our best shot Eagles,i can't even see him holding the ball for more than 10s in a EPL match
lpx88 SG I think the thing bad(Or good depends on how you view it) about Man Utd’s academy is mainly filled with youth players from Britain..Irish..British..Scottish.. Welsh..That really minimize the scope of potential they can that if they just limit their source of talents in that region.I mean come on how many modern day legends do you have from Britain? Wheras Arsenal hardly gets british players for their academy. They used their scouting network to get more promising players from the rest of europe..the americas…
4getmenot SG speaking of which.. i think Dong will probably not last long in united.. he’s never gonna get any first team action with his current performance…if we take his young age into account, there are several young players of his age who already seem to have some potentiality for future first team action, but Dong.. you need to do better than that if u want to make a lasting impression.
