dragg SG

this will be their most difficult match to date.

spurs are desperate too and they have a very potent strike force.

<Precious> SG

Both teams need to win but I doubt any will get it - in all probabilities, a draw...... Razz

I think Spurs is the perfect opposition that we should encounter now because they dont play defensive football.

In the past 3 games we'v had teams which defend in packs but i dont see Spurs doing that with the number of offensive-minded players they have.

shagadelic1892 SG

I agree. I don't think Spurs will adopt the "every player behind ball" tactic that Reading has employed in the opening game, so it will be a more open game. Man Utd should be able to make home ground advantage count.

iceFatboy SG

well, looking at how Nani performed in last 3 games, pretty hot...
but then, he is not ronaldo. he is in a new team.

tevez did not have a pre-season with his new team.

OwenH also, he was out injured.

but then, it is still United. So keep holding those balls, one win is all we need...

T.Ryousuke SG

Man U will win this.

Sunday's clash marks the 163rd time United and Tottenham have met. Historically, the Reds have the edge, especially at Old Trafford, where Spurs last won in December 1989.

Form guide: Like the Reds, Spurs have started the campaign slowly. But after two losses, Tottenham thumped Derby County 4-0 last weekend to register their first win of the season. The following day, United went down 1-0 to City in the Manchester derby, although Sir Alex was impressed with the team's "outstanding football". Still, United need to start finding the back of the net...

Ins and outs: It's not quite an injury crisis at White Hart Lane, but Spurs fans will tell you it's not far from it. Dimitar Berbatov, Younes Kaboul, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Ledley King will all miss the match, while Teemu Tainio, Michael Dawson and Aaron Lennon are all major doubts. United continue to be without the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo and injured Wayne Rooney (broken foot), while Owen Hargreaves' knee tendonitis is likely to be monitored right up to kick-off.

Star men: Michael Carrick will be keen to continue his good form against his former club, while Spurs midfielder Steed Malbranque is on a high after netting twice last weekend.

Good news...Saha, VDS, Owen and Anderson are fit.

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Louis Saha could be on the bench for Sunday's must-win clash with Tottenham at Old Trafford.

The French striker has not played since the Champions League semi-final defeat to AC Milan on 2 May because of a knee complaint which resulted in surgery over the summer.

Saha has now completed two full weeks' training and is in contention for a spot on the subs bench this weekend.

Meanwhile, a scan has shown there is no damage to Edwin van der Sar's foot meaning the Dutchman is fit to start Sunday's game.

The 36-year-old goalkeeper picked up a knock in training whilst on international duty for Holland earlier this week, but Sir Alex confirmed his No.1 stopper is okay.

There was more good news for the Reds after confirmation that both Owen Hargreaves and Anderson are fit. Hargreaves sat out England's friendly defeat to Germany because of tendonitis, while Anderson missed last weekend's derby loss with a hamstring strain. However, both are available for Sunday, with Hargreaves likely to start.

Striker Louis Saha is likely to be on the bench, keeper Edwin van der Sar (foot) is also available Anderson is set to make his competitive bow.

Gareth Bale could make his Tottenham debut and Dimitar Berbatov may return but Darren Bent (thigh) is a doubt.
