Fletcher the new captain

of Scotland. Mr. Green

Darren Fletcher will captain Scotland in Wednesday's friendly at home to South Africa.

Manchester United midfielder Fletcher, 23, will take the skipper's armband at Pittodrie on the occasion of his 30th international cap.

Fletcher takes over the captaincy in the absence of Barry Ferguson, who has been rested this week.

McLeish added: "Getting a leader from the midfield is ideal as far as I'm concerned.

"Craig Gordon was a contender, but I am not big on goalkeepers being captain.

"If you are in the middle of the pitch, you are aware of everything and everyone is aware of you."

Last year henzie so lucky get to be cappy10, now he want to quit, basket.

Who els can captain besides the oldies? Rio can?

Actually i'd like to see Rio stay on as Skipper be cause that would mean more concentration and less error but i see the trend of United either losing or drawing when he is the captain. Laughing

Anyway, Fletcher is Scotland youngest skipper a few seasons ago. And i read somewhere that Fletcher actually qualifies to play for Ireland and Keano actually wanted to persuade him to join him at the National Team. But Fergie stepped in.

Cheers.
