Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that he has previously
been interested in bringing Spanish striker Fernando Torres to
Manchester United.
However, the Scot claims he grew "fed up" of the player repeatedly
commiting his future to Atletico Madird and as a result withdrew
his interest in the player, who joined Liverpool this summer.
Ferguson remains a big fan of the player, who Rafael Benitez spent
at least £20m to buy in an attempt to end Liverpool's title
drought.
"Torres is athletic, he's brave enough and he'll run the channels
for them, which he did well in Madrid," admitted the United
chief.
"He's good in the air and has got a physique. He's quicker than you
think.
"Over the past few years there has been some interest for us in
Torres, but every time he signed a new contract.
"Sometimes you get fed up with that kind of thing."
