Which departure of a United player caused you the most grief

lpx88 SG

Heh..Im still young..So for me i would say Stam and Keane...

Stam's 1 is dumb. He's like the 1 of the most solid centre back at taht point of time.I'm like absolutely shocked when I first heard the news..

Keane - Im not only shocked.Im devastated man...What a legendary leader Crying or Very sad

Think some of the older fans here might come up with the likes of Cantona and Kanchelskis? Razz

I think my emotions will be absolutely crumbled come the day when Giggs and Scholes leaves

Rock^Star SG

Whether it is Ince, Kanchelskis, Stam or Irwin etc, they were all great players. However, the two that left me really sad were Cantona and Beckham.

Stam's departure was a total shock. It was his comments on his book that made Fergie mad and he's shown the door.

His successor, Laurent Blanc, was not exactly the fastest and strongest defender. In that season, i think United went throphy-less and if i can remember correctly, United lost to BLANC in EPL - B for Blackburn, L for Liverpool, A for Arsenal, N for Newcastle and C for Chelsea. Laughing

Cheers.

Sebestian Juan Veron.
He was one of my fave players during his Lazio time.

Schmeichel. Sad

Bontakun SG

Cantona and Stam caused me the most bizzare reactions. Not until grief dat stage.

I was abit disappointed with the sale of beckham...But that was like sort of..expected..and it was alleviated by the arrival of Ronaldo nonetheless

Inzaghi SG

how come no one mention Van Nit??....

Othello_Red SG

Yeah, i was rather shocked that Fergie was willing to let him go. I mean, Saha is good but he isn't consistent. Van Nist may have his short-comings, but he's quality and he gives his all. He even scored in 8 consecutive matches once before if i'm not mistaken.

And what's more, the only new guy then was Carrick. Good thing we won the league, else Fergie might have been sacked for such a decision, and who knows what would have happened to the club.

Inzaghi SG

n now they have a hard time finding a good striker..stupid to let go of van nit

ruud and keane Crying or Very sad

Everyone knew that Keane would go, it's only a matter of when. He was having painkilling jabs at half time just to be able to play on. It would have been dumb to make him continue playing when he wasn't the force that he once was. Thankfully, Keano realised that as well and forced things to happen, ensuring he could go on to play for his boyhood club and then go become a manager.

The Van Nist saga was plain dumb. if Ronaldo was'n on form and if Scholes didn't recover in time, we would have been dead.

lpx88 SG

I wasnt though...I felt that he wasnt the force in the EPL he used to be back then..

forlan Crying or Very sad

Othello_Red SG

Forlan was a waste. He can in when Van Nist was the focal point of the attack, and thus was forced to play as a supporting striker.

look what happened when he went to Villareal and lead the line there.

oh well, win some, lose some.

Keane, Stam, Becks, Schmeichels and P.Neville

Eric Cantona.

Peter Schmeichel.

David Beckham.

Quite a number of those mentioned players are those who somehow managed to piss Fergie off. So it's no surprise that they were shown the door, no matter how good they were.

As for RVN, it was only a matter of time. But we shouldn't feel sad for him because he did not have the best time in Utd during his last years there. At least now he got hell of a great time in RM so I'm actually happy that he left Utd. He deserves better than the bench.
