Barcelona plan £15M bid for Arsenal ace Henry
tribalfooball.com - May 09, 2007

Barcelona are drawing up a £15 million bid for Arsenal captain Thierry Henry.

The Primera Liga giants are aiming to capitalise on the current unrest at the Gunners, who have failed to win any trophies for the second successive season, to land the French striker.

With the possibility of manager Arsene Wenger leaving after his contract expires next year, the Daily Star claims Arsenal could be ready to sell their captain as they prepare to reshape the club.

There have been concerns regarding Henry's influence at the Emirates Stadium and Barca now hope Arsenal will decide this is the time to cash in on their talisman.

Frank Rijkaard could well lose Samuel Eto'o to Manchester United this summer and will therefore need a replacement to lead Barcelona to glory on multiple fronts next season.

Although Henry has turned down a move to the Nou Camp in the past, he's thought to be top of president Joan Laporta's wish-list and he could well be lured to Spain by the offer of a four-year deal worth a possible £7m a season.

Henry has made it clear in recent weeks he doesn't want to leave Arsenal but with his future entwined with that of Wenger, there could be a swift change of stance this summer.

No go as Barce is asking for crazy money... $40m pounds! Laughing

SIAO!!

iceFatboy SG

just read, Eto is going to be involved in the african's cup which will rob MUFC of his services for at least a few weeks and SAF is never fond of that.

That will render him off the radar.. This will means he is a smoke-screen after all.

iceFatboy SG

and also, Berba has rejected MUFC once, don't think SAF will go for him again...

Another smoke screen??

lpx88 SG

But still betta than Eto'o whos got no previous exp in the EPL wad...

iceFatboy SG

agreed...

jianfish9 SG

40mil for Eto is a joke la.

Barca want to buy Henry for 15mil and sell Eto for 40mil.

Might as well we go buy Henry and still got spare change for other players.

Dead_Man_Inc SG

scally barca wanna trade eto'o for cristiano ronaldo Laughing

Actually Berbatov finishing and skill is good but is he really fast?

I think Man Utd want to have players that can keep pace with Ronaldo and Rooney. Coz when they counter, usually Ronaldo and Rooney are far ahead of the rest. Giggs and scholes can't really keep up.

Owen at 9mil pounds is worth a gamble but Newcastle will hate us forever. Mr. Green

iceFatboy SG

owen is good but is he high risk??

Ruud came good after his injury, but look at Saha.

If Owen comes to MUFC, it is his choice and why newcastle will hate MUFC?
They sold Andy Cole to us, their top scorer.

Comments from bbc ->

Michael Owen has been linked with us but we already have a footballer like Owen at Old Trafford (Saha) who is always injured too. I personally would not welcome Michael Owen to Old Trafford as he would take us for a ride on his usual massive ego trip. Michael Owen might have been great when he was young but seriously what has the guy done since that hat-trick against Germany nearly 6 years ago? Nothing and i dont include the two goals against Argies after Ayala had gone off as that was just a friendly.

Michael Owen has taken Newcastle to the cleaners with the transfer fee and wages and hardly ever played for them and it seems Owen wants to go. Michael Owen does not deserve a high pedestal to play football. Michael Owen gives alot of media interviews and talks big and makes stupid little vows and excuses but the guy is just all talk these days. Owen has lost the one thing that made him great and that was pace. Michael Owen might as well stick to his race horses and golf and become a right big toff. I expect to see Owen at Ascot rather than at Old Trafford, Anfield, Emirates or the Bridge.

btw, since Smith's return, is he the breath of fresh air??
or should he be "replaced"??

4getmenot SG

smith need more games to sharpen up i guess.. as for Barcelona , they can fark off with their demand..and no they can;t have Christiano Ronaldo in exchange, hes worth twice more than Eto who is still not proven in EPL.. i guess we have to look elsewhere.. i'm crossing my fingers that at least Nani will make it to OT.. Mr. Green

4getmenot SG

I agree, we dun need a player like Owen, who does not show passion and loyalty to a certain extend after what newcastle has gone through waiting for him to be fit, he should have at least stayed on a season to repay them back.

Rossi: I want to be Man Utd star

Giuseppe Rossi is desperate for the chance to prove himself a Manchester United star.

The young Italian has long been held in high regard at Old Trafford, but he has spent this season on loan at firstly Newcastle and latterly Parma.

"I want to come back to United not as the kid in the reserves who makes a step up, but as a player fully involved in the senior squad," Rossi told the Star on Sunday.

"United are my main priority. It's where I want to be and where I want to play."

Rossi is happy with his spell away from Old Trafford, as he added: "I needed to go out on loan to get more experience, but I want to be part of the United squad and become a first-team regular.

"You always want to be confident in your own ability. I am and I really hope I can make my park next season because I want to stay at Old Trafford for as long as I can."

maybe SAF might not be signing a striker after all?
rooney+smith+saha+rossi+dong+solskjaer? Mr. Green

Get Benni McCathy from Blackburn, although not young but proven striker in EPL and will be very afforable for Man Utd..
