Ronaldo secures PFA award double

Dead_Man_Inc SG

Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year at a gala dinner in London.

The 22-year-old winger is the first player to win both awards in the same season since Andy Gray in 1977.

The Portuguese has recovered from the controversy of last year's World Cup to help United battle for three trophies.

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was second and Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes third in the senior award.

Cesc Fabregas of Arsenal was second and Tottenham's Aaron Lennon third in the voting for the young player award.

PFA Player and Young Player of the Year 2007 - Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)

PFA Premier League Team of the Year 2007 - Edwin van der Sar, Gary Neville, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra (all Man Utd); Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo (all Man Utd) & Steven Gerrard (Liverpool); Didier Drogba (Chelsea) & Dimitar Berbatov (Tottenham)

Special Merit Award - Sir Alex Ferguson

Crazy.. Look at the team of the year.. The whole backline is Man U's backline.. That's really absurd.. I would really disagree.. I'm sure there are other better performing full backs and centrebacks.. And I would have to disagree with Giggs and Gerrard..

congrats. he fully deserves the awards.

omgukilledkenny SG

great achievement for Ronaldo, maybe he'll even win 5 trophies by the end of the season Mr. Green

omgukilledkenny SG

i dont think rio deserves to be in, i think it should be carragher or carvalho.

i guess if peter cech had not been injured for such a long time he'd be picked ahead of VDS too.

also dont understand why gerrard was picked, essien performed well this season.

CKeer SG

He plays on the left, he plays on the riigghhttt~~~
That boy Ronaldo, makes England look shite! Mr. Green
