Heinze enjoys Premiership Pace
Juventus boss Didier Deschamps has made no secret of his admiration
for United's robust defender Gabriel Heinze this week.
The Argentine international has a battle on his hands for the
left-back spot at Old Trafford with Patrice Evra putting in some
fine performances this season. And although he found himself on the
bench against Aston Villa last weekend, the he showed no signs of
looking for the exit door when he spoke to Inside United
recently.
The Premiership is very dynamic, fast and furious, Gaby told
Uniteds official monthly magazine. I think the combination of
pace and skill is the beauty of football in England.
He acknowledges that English football may be the most physically
demanding in the world, but Heinze admits that suits his game
perfectly.
When it comes down to it, Id prefer to defend against somebody
who is strong because youve got one or two more ways to deal with
them. If theres somebody really quick then theres less you can
do.
[Whatever competition Im playing in], there arent any players
who are of lower quality. Every game youre coming up against a top
quality rival. On a game-to-game basis you really have to be on
your toes.
It seems training, too, is a challenge. The Reds no.4 praised
Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney for their silky skills.
Ronaldinho can do anything he wants with the ball, Heinze said of
his former Paris Saint German teammate. That makes him similar to
Wayne and Cristiano. Theyre all totally unpredictable on a
football pitch and impossible to defend against at
times.
