Carrick: Best yet to come

zocoss SG

Michael Carrick says that he is now ready to make a real impact at Manchester United.

The England international has settled well into life at Old Trafford since his near £19 million move from Tottenham in the summer.

Carrick now feels he is ready to show his true worth with The Red Devils.

"My first aim was to establish myself," said Carrick. "Thankfully, I have been able to do that.

"There was always going to be a focus on me. At a big club like this, there were bound to be a lot of eyes on me wondering how I was doing.

"But I have to try to forget about that because I have a job to do.

"The longer it goes on, the better I will get because there is a lot more to come from me, I have no doubt about that."

he is IMO just a stop gap players, one of those 2nd or 3rd choice of SAF so i gather if the kitty bag is heavy and some good DM comes along, i bet he’ll probably ends up being a part player for Man Utd, unless he improve really alot before that happens…

Get the slides in boy!! Be a keano can?

Dead_Man_Inc SG

must shoot more too!

iceFatboy SG

please, he can never be a keano.. that's a rare breed that is extinct like vieira.
but he is improving.

I think he is alternating roles with Scholes and thus limits his attacking instinct. Also, he won't be a lampard or SteveG.

I think OwenH would be brought to fill that DM role, while Carrick would be our AM in times to come.

I think Rooney and Scholes can impart some shooting skills to him, though.

marcteng SG

dun compare him with keane or viera, they are different type of players Mr. Green

give carrick some time to adapt, u see the same thing with arsenal moving to a new stadium, same logic isn't it Smile

if u wan to judge carrick, judge him after a few seasons. if after 3 seasons he still KNS, then you can say he is a flop

trendz SG

i think he’s a useful player. his passing is very accurate. one defence-splitting pass and rooney to finish; we need 3 of those and the opponent is dead and buried. and carrick can tackle; though that’s not exactly his forte.

marcteng SG

i hope owen hargreaves come to man u, cos he is a tough cookie in the centre of midfield Mr. Green

he runs and tackle a lot, just like the keane of old, box to box players, but hargreaves seldom score like keane, as he usually sit in front of defence, just like essien or makelele type of players

dinky1409 SG

I agree.. Carrick is more of a Scholes player..

givemeluck SG

after the boro game i still thinks that fletcher is a better player on that position...ermmm Rolling Eyes

iceFatboy SG

you must be kidding just becos Fletcher scored??

let carrick play more, and next season, I believe he will be contribute to the GF - goals for.

dinky1409 SG

Hehe nah not because he scored but Fletcher was doing a lot of hard work in midfield..

givemeluck SG

definitely not because of the goal he scored..... , btw did u watch the match that day or not?

iceFatboy SG

yes, I did, he was pitched between scholes and Ronaldo.
I don't question his work ethics. To me, he is often over-shadowed by other big names.

However, we are MUFC, we should have quality.
And Carrick provides that.

dinky1409 SG

hehe both also can lah.. Carrick and Fletcher.. Future midfield when scholes retire.. Twisted Evil still got richardson..

givemeluck SG

u trust richardson?

dinky1409 SG

Hehe must have faith in my red devils anyway he is not too bad... and he still got a few more years le.. Give him some chance Twisted Evil

Dead_Man_Inc SG

richardson can be quite good, but he has bad temper sometimes Laughing

givemeluck SG

he reminds me of pennant – (correct spelling)? .

iceFatboy SG

for those who watched the game, saw the contributions that Carrick made??

he defends as well as he attacks...

he is not as flamboyant as lampard, but he gets the work done.

he to me, is like scholes, releases the pressure...
once benfica presses, he releases the ball to the right person or wing, and release the pressure and instead turns from defence to attack..

now to Richardson, he is a sad case.
I believe he should be sold to WBA. He can't thrive in CM anymore, and with his pace, he is good enough for wingers but his crosses are inaccurate and is "greedy" to shoot first and pass later...

sell...
