Rossi score for Newcastle

Newcastle 3-0 Portsmouth

GIUSEPPE ROSSI made a splash on his full Newcastle debut to send Portsmouth sliding out.

The on-loan Manchester United forward notched his first goal for his new club just after the break to put Toon on the way to a last-16 clash at Watford.

And from then on the home side never looked back.

The win will relieve some of the pressure on Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder, whose side are showing some form as a cup team this season.

Goals: Rossi 48, Solano 53, 90.

Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder on Giuseppe Rossi:

"He has been very patient waiting for an opportunity. He will certainly get plenty of opportunities between now and the end of December.
"It was a fantastic finish. I would expect him to finish there because I have seen it so often.

"I have seen it in games when he was at Manchester United, whether it was his opportunities in the first team or in reserve-team football.

"He is, in my opinion, a natural goalscorer, and he worked so hard for the team as well. He was a real pain for their defence."

Rossi scored the opener just after half-time.

Actually, Newcastle has ALOT and i really mean ALOT of stars in their team. It's the manager's fault, really. He doesn't have the qualification to be a top club gaffer, "made" West Ham relegate a few seasons ago and yet Newcastle stubbornly hung on to him.

See how players like Martins, Luque, Milner, Solano, Carr, Ameobi suffers? And it's so amazing to see duds like Bramble, Moore and Butt starting as first-team players without fail.

I see lots of potential in Newcastle. Given is an excellent shot-stopper. Carr and Babayaro/Ramage provides excellent run from defence. The 2 central defenders are pure duds - Barmble and Moore. Milner and N'Zogbia are 2 young and great wingers. Parker, Emre, Butt and Dyer sprays excellent passes and controls the midfield well. Strikers Ameobi, Martins, Luque and Rossi are all talented sharpshooters.

Get a new manager. Alan Curbishley would almost certainly do a much better job than Roeder.

Cheers.

Actually you are only half right... A manager alone won't necessary solve the problem for them. I think the problem goes much higher up the ladder... I think they need a new chairman rather than Freddy Shepherd.

In their last 10yrs they have had 8 different managers and Bobby Robson alone stayed for 5 out of those 10yrs. They are somehow waiting for Alan Shearer to come back to manager them after he gets his pro coaching license.

Newcastle has been in the news lately as a potential take-over target of some company... If that happens, maybe they will start to get better. Mr. Green

Finally a win for NUFC. They have been on a losing streak in the EPL.

to me, this is a strange piece of news.
newcastle is nuturing a player for a rival club.

only thing newcastle needs are two new solid central defenders.
