Howard helps Blues win derby

Dead_Man_Inc SG

Tim Howard helped his loan club Everton to beat United's old rivals on Saturday afternoon - and go top of the Barclays Premiership, at least for few hours.

The American goalkeeper shut out Liverpool for 90 minutes as the Toffees cruised to a 3-0 victory in his first Merseyside derby. Howard's opposite number Jose Reina had a nightmare, spilling the ball to Andy Johnson for his second and Everton's third goal in the 90th minute. Johnson and Tim Cahill had previously put the home side 2-0 up at the break.

Away from Merseyside, it was a low-scoring day in the Premiership. Chelsea were restricted to two in their home win over Charlton. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink brought the Addicks on level terms early in the second half, only for Ricardo Carvalho to grab the winner just nine minutes later. Didier Drogba scored Chelsea's first goal in the 5th minute.

Arsenal failed to score from open play again, and had Thierry Henry's 66th minute penalty equaliser to thank for a measly point against Middlesbrough at the Emirates Stadium. Morrison scored midway through the first half for the long-distance visitors.

Bolton won the battle with Watford at the Reebok Stadium but only just - Gary Speed's winner came in the 90th minute. Fulham also left it late, winning 2-1 at Newcastle with goals by McBride and Bocanegra in the 81st and 88th minutes respectively.

The afternoon's other results saw Portsmouth maintain their superb start by beating Wigan 1-0 at home and Blackburn grind out a goalless draw at Sheffield United.

it will be a nasty hit in the teeth for man u if howard does the same when the everton meets man u.

zocoss SG

Yeah, you also forgot their captain Phil Neville was working very hard to close down Pool... Looks like they did man utd a favour. Laughing

Phil also played very well last night. I think now he has become Everton's vice captain or captain... Both brothers have done rather well.

imprezaWRXSTi22B SG

heh. he cant cos on loan players arent allowed to play against their original clubs.

zocoss SG

He can't play against Man u cos he is on loan from Man u. Rules said that loan players cannot play against their original club. So Howard & Rossi won't be playing against Man u. Mr. Green

R3SsH|n SG

oh yea...hope to see more of rossi this season at everton...

Dead_Man_Inc SG

nope

rossi is on loan to newcastle

zocoss SG

Yeah Rossi is at Newcastle... Hey Dead_Man_Inc just saw you re-do the fixture thread too is it? Look much better, something seems different... Did you add some colours?

Its very useful to have a quick record to refer too... If only the Months was infront and the Day at the end, would be easier to see which teams they will be playing on that month... and also a slightly bigger space between each month. But hey, no problem... still very well done with the colours.

Great job... Razz

Thanks for the trouble.

Hey Dead_Man_Inc, just saw the fixture thread again... Look much better, your separation of the months style looked more clear-cut and also removing all the 2006/7 in every match and moving them to the top only also look cleaner as well.

Now we can see clearly who they will be playing in which month and how many games that month too.

Great job. Razz

Thanks on behalf from all united supporters here i am sure. Wink

Dead_Man_Inc SG
