Stylish steering. All steering modes on the real thing can be done on the model (and this is also one of the reason I would buy it).

They said that the real crane can lift 200 tons in this configuration. The configuration itself can be done on the model, but not lift 200 tons, nia...
Price? SGD 450. Sells on the net for 480-550 inclusive of freight.
Now finding suitable location and time to bring it for an outdoor shoot. Might get some weird looks for people but thats alright...
Some pains; except for price, the weight is not very friendly, plus the boom's 'hydraulic' piston cannot do too much cycles; my friend changed his once per year when it became loose!
But I hope this weird collection (I heard only ten odd people like to collect crane and construction related equipment in Sg) can also have its own share in Die Cast toys... Besides, this isn't really much of a toy, not suitable for children!

i bought 1 some yrs back...nt quite sure whats the model but its by siku, yellow in colour and has a cross-jointed boom(the non-adjustable kind, like those used by tower cranes). but too bad the weight behind are fixed Smile

Woah, larrylee, I bet that is a Demag CC series crawler crane? Exact model I not sure, do enlighten me...
Ah yes, the counterweights are adjustable, the weight may seem a certain amount, but when come to 'counter' the weight, nia, the crane still depends heavily on its outriggers (the little things that stick out).
Regarding the Siku crane, I also have one, yeah, the counterweights are not removable, I find it quite pain to do and cannot lift heavy things; the crane tends to topple easily!
I have only got in touch with collector grade crane models recently, about three weeks ago. It took several sleepless nights to decide whether to buy or not!
I am heading for the Demag AC500-2 with luffing fly jib as the next crane, requiring a total bill of 900-1100 SGD!
Now that is really expensive...!

Oh, Konica Minolta Dynax 5D, 24-85mm lens, hoping to get a macro lens so can go nearer and have a slightly nicer effect.

Its very very long... but can only support less than 10 tons at its end, for the real thing. Weight is sacrificed for height (can reach up to 149 metres in real situation).
The 1200 comes with two lattice sections, one lattice adaptor and one lattice/solid jib...

The jib is called a lattice jib. Mr. Green

That model is a stepped down configuration of the Liebherr LG1550 . The real equipment can lift a max of 550tons . But in that toy crane (that Siku crane is a toy crane , not a true model crane.) configuration , the crane can lift only about 150-250tons* . Theres another Siku crane, the Mega Space Lifter . Ist also modelled after a LG1550 , but with the max config for heavy lifting , with derrick and ballast . In that config , it can lift close to 500tons.

The Demag AC500-2 boasts a new SSL system . SSL stands for Sideways Super Lift. If i rmbr correctly , the AC500-1 comes in a Demag label . The Demag AC500-2 however , comes in TerexDemag colours . Also , in the AC500-1 , it has a small hook , having only a pathetic single sheave line hook . The AC500-2 have a chunkier and larger hook .

There are shops selling them at Orchard . One of them is located at Meridian Shopping centre , second level . Another one i cant rmbr , but is located near teh Meridian .

Anw , even so , be prepared to fork out about $300 - $1500 if you want to buy any of them. Mr. Green

Actually the crane's luffing fly jib cannot be transported by the crane carrier itself. It needs at least a convoy of 6-8 trailers (for the 91 metres luffing fly jib), plus another 4-6 trailers for the counterweights...
One operation of these cranes require lots of manpower, rigging up the crane lifting into position, lots to do...
