The term 'true love' is highly subjective. How many out there
actually believe in true love? That you will meet someone and
instantly fall in love?
I think that love is only evident when things are going really bad.
When everything is perfect, you don't see evidence of love. I think
that love can be roughly defined as doing something you strongly do
not want to for someone else.
I see nowadays people take love more as conditional love and
reciprocal love. Can these be taken as true love? You treat me
well, then I sayang you. Or the expectation of getting something
after performing a good deed.
I take my own mom as an example. My dad didn't beat or abuse her.
But he certainly ignores her to every extent. He has affairs
outside and maybe even a 2nd family. He even divorced her, but
still they stay in the same house. And yet my mom will be there to
take care of him, to love him and to provide for him. Some say she
is stupid. He treats her like a maid and yet she still stays with
him. She can have a better life on her own. But i know she still
loves him. Is this conditional love? Is this dependant on
everything being good? I know she suffered alot of pain and hurt,
but she continues in this. For what good? For no good, it
seems.
This kind of love is closest you can get to true love. Most people
nowadays have no such concept. They just leave when everything or
even anything is not going their way.
Can your relationship handle extra marital affairs? Can it handle
with the other party being disabled or heavily disfigured? What do
you think?
