Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says he will not be buying a defender in the January
transfer window despite the fact that Nemanja Vidic has been
ruled out for the season.
Vidic ruptured knee ligaments during United’s Champions League
defeat to Basle, a long-term problem that will keep him sidelined
for the remainder of the campaign. Sir Alex, though, was braced for
such a verdict from the medical team when he saw his captain
sustain the injury.
